Help
How setup works, moving your data in and how to reach us.
Setting up
Signing up is a few questions, then a guided setup you can stop and come back to. Paying is the first step, and every other step opens as soon as the payment is confirmed. After that a setup guide lists the steps in order, ticks the ones you have done and lets you stop and come back at any time.
- Pay. The owner pays for the plan first.
- Your firm. Name, address, phone and email, VAT number and the bank details for invoices.
- Sender name. Texts under your business name have to be registered with ComReg. We do that for you and it usually takes about 2 weeks. Carry on with the rest meanwhile.
- Customer notice. Confirm your privacy notice mentions texts. We give you a starting text.
- Price list, job types and invoice settings. What you charge, how long jobs take and how invoices are numbered.
- Team. Invite office staff and technicians by email. You can skip this and come back.
Texts start once your sender name is registered and your customer notice is confirmed. Everything else works from day one. To answer missed calls, ask your phone provider to divert unanswered calls to the number shown in setup. The code to dial differs between providers.
Moving your data in
You can import customers, sites and equipment from:
- an Excel or CSV file
- Tradify
- Jobber
- ServiceM8
We have not yet tested these three against real exports from those tools. Check the first few customers after an import, and use Excel or CSV if a column does not line up. You can also export all your data from Turstone at any time.
Your first week
- Look at Today. It shows what needs doing now: jobs for today, quotes waiting for an answer, overdue invoices and call-backs.
- Add your customers with their sites and equipment, or import them as above.
- Fill the diary. Each technician has their own day and week. Drag a visit to move it.
- Put the technician app on each phone. It installs from the browser with no app store, and with no signal a technician still sees today's visits, and changes are sent when the phone is back online.
- Send a quote and an invoice. Quotes and card pay links go to the customer by text.
- Switch on call answering and choose when it answers. Outside those hours your calls are not touched.
